Why will Drumlee Watar win?
Ever since Drumlee Watar showed up for the McParlan family in Loughanmore in an Irish point in May 2018, he has wanted a marathon trip. He manages that again over hurdles and had never got out of the first three in half a dozen starts according to the rules with trips of 2m 7f or more. As the son of Watar, he managed a hat trick in the summer, including an 11-length course and a distance win over 110 in June.
Drumlee Watar also saw the shape of his Uttoxeter win on his next outing, reinforced by the fifth house, Aye Aye Charlie, who has since met at that location. He also showed a real attitude to play to complete the hat trick in Worcester and prevailed in rookie company with a header from eventual top scorer Blue Sans.
Since Drumlee Watar was far from out of favor with a narrow third place finish at Bangor when he last started, his current 125 mark seems doable. With the experienced hurdler Tobefair, who gives him the handicap, a nice racing weight of 10.4lb should be usable for this tried and tested stayer on a solid surface. Greatrex puts a visor on Drumlee Watar here, and he has responded well to wearing headgear in the past.
