The Fuengirola Horse Rescue Stable is asking for help to keep going.
Anna Idzerda, a professional real estate agent, spends all of her free time and money looking after abandoned or sick horses that have no hope of recovery or care.
In their rented stable, which is located on Calle Tramo de Union in Mijas Costa, Anna and her very good friend Tuija, who also volunteers in the stable, rescue horses from all over Andalusia.
Tuija makes a lovely selection of handcrafted horseshoes and donates them for free to the stables that are popular with visitors to the rescue center – if you ever drive by or visit the stables, you might be able to buy one or even two! 100% of the money raised goes towards the conservation of the animals.
There have been many successes over the years but unfortunately they are often too late and animals suffer unnecessarily from starvation or disease, with some found dead on the side in a field after months of neglect.
