In Ruidoso, Kj Desparado overtook Fdd Scout and won the $ 3 million All American Futurity Quarter Horse Classic on Monday at Ruidoso Downs.

Kj Desparado covered the 440 yard distance in 21.25 seconds, ending Jess Savin Candy’s bid for a sweep of Ruidoso Downs’ Quarter Horse Triple Crown.

Jess Savin Candy finished fourth, behind Kj Desparado, Fdd Scout and Sippin Hayden.

The winner, a 9-2 shot that entered the race, paid $ 11.80, $ 4.60, and $ 3.80, respectively. Fdd Scout paid $ 4.60 and $ 3.80. Sippin Hayden paid $ 6.80.

Jess Savin Candy had won the Ruidoso Futurity in June and the Rainbow Futurity in July and was ready to become the second horse to ever win the Triple Crown. Special Effort accomplished the feat in 1981.
